What makes flamingos pink?

Answers:
What makes green ones green? Or blue ones blue? Same thing, their diet. Learned that at the zoo when I was 6 and they had pink, green and blue ones.
shrimp that they eat
what they eat
Could be the iodine in the fish they eat.
Yeah! What they said! It's toxins in the shell fish and shrimp they eat that makes them pink. If you remove them and feed them on fish they become white.
I guess it is the food they eat. I've heard that before.. but not never knew that. It would be funny if they turned white, or if they were half white and half pink.
The food in its diet. The seafood they eat is high in alpha and beta carotene.
Pink shrimp.
the shrimp come on!
Its the food they eat especially shrimp. On a side note, at marine parks like Sea World and at Hialeah race track in Miami, they supplement their flamingos food with paprika to create a more intense pink color. :)

What makes animals disposed to be sociable with humans?

LIke cats, dogs, gerbils. Do they enjoy human company. Pysiological?
Answers:
Well, social animals (such as cats, dogs, gerbils, rats, etc) like to be around others. In the wild, they have social networks with creatures of their own kind, and some even have co-dependant relationships with other animals. Humans have become that social network for domestic pets - bringing food for them, caring for them, interacting, etc. I think it is in part pysiological, and in part evolutionary. Most domestic pets in todays worl would not live very long in the wild, as they have become co-dependant on humans to provide them with their needs.

TDK
For dogs, it goes back to their ancestors. Dogs are naturally pack animals, so therefore they need a family. Whether that family is with its own kind or with people, they need it. Psychology it's just a part of who they are. Cats on the other hand aren't always as sociable. This one really depends on the cat itself. Most cats just want their basic needs fulfilled and a little human contact, other than that nothing. I don't know about gerbils. Unless a rodent is used to being picked up, they usually just run away.
when a cat or dog or any other animal comes up to you, ya they are happy and they are wonting you to love on them. animals have feelings just like we do,and they wont people to care about them just like we wont some one to care about us.

what makes a mule ? I know a donkey and a horse, but is it a female horse and a male?

donkey or a female donkey and a male horse ?
Answers:
As said already- a mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse, whilst a hinny is the offspring of a female donkey and male horse.

In my experience, mules are often more horse-like both in build and behaviour, and hinnies tend to be more like the donkey. My feeling is that the behaviour is due to the influence of the dam, although I've found that if you put a mule in with a group of donkeys, it starts to act like a donkey.

To all intents and purposes, all are sterile, but there has been the odd case recorded over the years of molly mules (and I believe also of female hinnies) carrying foals to term. Johns have to be gelded to keep a lid on testosterone-fuelled madness!

Mules are very smart (jerry- I reckon they're a lot more than twice as smart!!), and unfortunately the same qualities that make them such brilliant animals if they're well trained can make them downright dangerous if they're not. Great animals though.
Cut and pasted right out of www.wikipedia.com Hope it helps:

In its common modern meaning, a mule is the offspring of a male donkey and a female horse. Compare hinny 鈥?the offspring of a male horse and a female donkey. The term "mule" (Latin mulus) was formerly applied to the offspring of any two creatures of different species 鈥?in modern usage, a "hybrid
Mule: The progeny of a male donkey and a female horse, it has a horse like body and a donkey-like ears, legs and feet. Mules are born male and female.

A Hinny is when the female donkey and male horse, makes a donkey like body and horse like ears, legs and feet. (Complete opposite breeding of a mule)

The male a.ss is known as a "Jack" and a female is knowing as a "Jennet".

Characteristics of an a.ss: longer, larger ears, a sparser mane an tail, a more cowlike tail and smaller hooves. Muzzle and and underbelly is light in color.

Jacks breed to horse mares make mules.

A Jennet to a stallion horse makes a "Hinny" as stated above.

Mules and Hinnys of both sexes generally are sterile.
The female is a horse the male is a donkey and the mule offspring is sterile.
I've been riding mules for 51 years and breeding them for 45 years a jack + Mair = mule or a horse stud + a jenny = mule. they come in all shapes and sizes and colors. there twist as smart as a horse. don't let a mule learn a bad habit are your done. the price has Ben from $5.00 too $5,000.00, a good trail mule runs from $1,000 to $2.500 now days.
the mule has been the backbone of this county, they worked are farms , mines and roads. here here to a good mule.
Yep, dam is a horse, sire is a donkey.
I have 3 mules and wouldn't trade them for all the horses in the world!

What makes a chinchilla different from other animals??

I am doing a project on it. Chinchilla owners, I would perfer you answer this question. Also, do they have weird habits?? Any other information. What would also help are really informative sites on the chinchilla.
Answers:
Chinchillas have extremely dense fur, to the point where they cannot get wet (because the water would not dry and could cause mold to build up in their fur!). So instead of taking baths, they have to roll around in a very finely-ground dust to get themselves clean.
i realy do not no i ahve one though.
we have 3 chinnies
daddy squlla (a standard gray), mommy girly(white mosiac), and new baby angelica (mixed)

chinnies are so cute! they are very interesting to watch play. i let mine play in our big bathroom and i sit in the floor and play with them, they run and hop around, they ramp off the walls while running (they're very fast). they'll climb all over you if they are comfortable with you. They love treats, especially raisins! they are nocturnal, so they are great if you work all day. They like to chew on apple tree limbs. They can be moody, girly shakes her cage door when i put her back in after play time. They are a very loving family, they snuggle and play together all the time.
I have a 2 year old chinchilla and his name is Gizzy! I wouldnt trade him for anything in this world! My god have u ever held one in your arms? They are soooo amazingly soft and I think anyone who wears a damn nasty chinchilla coat should have to own a chin for a good month first! That would change their minds! He is soooo sweet-funny-playful-and cuddly! He is litter trained and has full run of the house and loves to play with our 2 Pomeranians! What makes them different? They seem to understand other pets so well just thru sound. They come when u call their name and man- my Gizzy can melt my heart like no other can!

what makes a cat person a cat person? What about a dog person?

Are cat people typically quiet %26 shy. Quite the opposite for dog people? I love all animals, but I've always been drawn to cats.
Answers:
I'm neither quite or shy and I am a 'cat person'. I love cats, they just seem to me to be better pets. I've never had a problem with a cat not being loving and caring. I have 2 cats now and 2 dogs. And I love the cats far more. They sleep with my husband and I, curled up in my arms. They set on my lap when I am watching tv or reading. They follow me around and lay on the floor in the kitchen when I cook. They beg for food and love to play. The dogs however, don't like to do these things. They would rather lay on the floor and sleep and be content with doing their own thing. But everyone has their own preference and whatever works for them

To clear things up, I love to be outdoors and be around people. I hate to be alone and bored. and I do love dogs as well, just my cats are my babies.
people like cats and them people do not like dogs and dog people are people that do not like cats
Cat people tend to more reserved. They tend to like learning and are more of homebodies.
Dog people are often high energy, outgoing, and prefer people. Often they like fashion, and are very emotional and open.

This isn't a firm guideline but of all the cat/dog people I know these are summaries. I'm a cat person!

It's actually kind of like introvert/extrovert.
Cat person, whiskers
dog person, wags tail
I don't Know w. you just have to love either one of them.
i dunno cos i love ALL animals lol although i do prefer cats cos i had one recently.
cats are independent and basically do what they want. thats why i luv'em
dogs would do anything to get a treat or some love..cant stand that
Actally I became a dog person first, didn't know much about cats. We had a Cocker Spaniel from the pound. And then My Son rescued a beagle, from a puppy mill, He could fit in the palm of Your hand, so could the Cocker when We first got Her.

I became a cat person by chance. I was at My Mom's house visiting and someone had put out, or thrown a cat out where She lives in the country. There were many cats living around there, that they helped to feed once a day, but they were feral cats. This cat came walking up meowing and crying, His face was all scraped up, and of course He was hungry. We fed Him some of our tuna sandwiches, He was very proper not intruding too much. My Mom even liked Him, and She wasn't crazy about cats, but treats Her dog like a princess. I didn't know what to do, so that night as I said My prayers I asked God to please tell Me what I should do, and to please give Me a sign. The cat had come up to the house, it was cold that night, and they had a brand new water hose still rolled up sitting on the porch swing, so He had nestled in it to keep warm. When I pulled the blinds back that morning to see if He was still around, honestly He raised His paw and moved it as if to wave, and there was My sign. I drove Him home, a four hour trip, and He meowed the entire time. I had Him in a cat carrier, actually a dog carrier. But when We got home, and I let Him out of the carrier onto the ground outside, He rolled over on His back, and rubbed all over the ground as if to say I don't know where I am, but thank You God. We named Him Whiskers, He lived 12 plus years, We lost Him two months ago. He was truly amazing, and He taught Me what it meant to have a Cat. Now We have three. And by the way, I can be shy and quiet if I do not know Someone well, but I can also hold My own when I need to. Maybe that is the personaltity of a cat and dog owner. We lost the Cocker, We had Her 15 years, 5 months, and 4 days. We lost Her in May of this Year. We still Have the Beagle, who was Her best bud, well actually they all three were. All of our animals are rescued animals. There are so many, I pray Everyone would give an animal in need a chance, Your life will be better for it.

Both dogs and cats can give lots of love, they just show it differently. Litter boxes aren't fun, but they beat getting up during the night many times, anyday.

God Bless

What makes a better pet?

A rat, mouse, hamster?
Answers:
none of the above
well kitty im a cat person so no matter wat i say im always gunna say cats at least they cuddle up with you at nite and will always b there wen u want them..
Rats make great pets. Contrary to common belief, they are very clean and quite affectionate too. Also extremely intelligent.
Rats are definitely better pets, as long as you get them from a reputable pet shop that handles them ALOT starting from when thay are babies. Rats are very intelligent and can show favoritism and affection like the other two cannot.
Not that hamsters and mice don't show any kind of affection, it's just not as noticeable.
hampster
if i only had to choose between those I'd say hamster

but personally I'm a cat person..so I'd prefer one of those.
I likr hampsters the best.
I really like little mice, but it's an animals temperment you want to look at, any of them could be sweet or be bitey!
A rat if you want more interaction between you and your pet. I have had all three, and my rats are the smartest. You can walk a rat on a ferret harness, they let you handle them way more then the other two. Good luck picking out your pet.
A rat
I am not a big fan of any of them, but I would say the rat is the most intelegent and likeable. They are also less likely to be so skiddish and apt to bite out of fear.

It also depends on the amount of time you will spend with them, all need to have attention if you don't want them to develope bad behaviors. The more attention you give them the more loveable they become. And all need habitats large enough to get lots of exercise. So the larger the animal the larger the habitat, something to think about if you don't have a lot of room.
All of them bite hard I would get a gerbil if i were you, but you can make that choice
Hamsters. most defiantly. Low cost, easy to care for, respond to voice, cuddly, and cute!! Oh, and hamsters can show favoritism too. They can love almost anyone. (almost meaning everyone so from. that they know) Also some people think that hamsters just sit there and do nothing, but it really depends on the hamster.

The hamster that I take care of is so smart, he can find his back into his cage even if it's closed, and he knows how to climb!, and jump on comand!!
(F.Y.I - hamsters are nocturnal)
I have mice and a hamster right now, and my sister used to have a rat! They loved him, and I love my little critters. True, they want to play and not cuddle, but they are fun little guys.

Whatever you decide on, make sure and get one of those little booklets you can get at the pet store with tips for the type you choose. I have had more than 30 mice, and if you properly acclimate them to you, you will have very little problem with them biting. Usually they do that when they are startled. It's a defense reaction.

Have fun! Make sure you have all the fun little things they will need to make them happy, healthy little critters!
a rat.
rats are smart.mice just run away..hamsters just sit there and do nothing.
besides with rats you can train them to do tricks and come to you and do mazes and stuff like that
mouse
A rat because they're loving not a hamster because they bit and mice are cute but since they're so small if they get lose all I got to say is gooding luck finding them

What kinds of services do you wish your Veterinarian offered?

Whats important to you about your vet? What do you like and what don't you like?
Answers:
My vet is the best. He is always calm and kind and you can tell he really cares about the animals. He offers everything from claw clipping to surgery. I would trust him to operate on me he is so good.

The only thing he doesn't offer is boarding. I would love to be able to leave my cats with him when I go on vacation because I know he would take super care of them. His building just isn't big enought to support that sort of service though. I wish he would move to a larger building so he could offer boarding.
Accupuncture and holistic herbal treatments. I don't personally practice accupuncture, but it's helpful in injuries and many diseases, and would prevent a lot of very expensive surgery.

I can cure skin conditions myself, including mange, with simple herbal treatments.

My vet recently wanted a $41 office visit and $130 to culture my dogs ears to see what kind of infection she had, before prescribing antibiotics - which would have entailed another $41 and the cost of the antibiotics!. Smelling the dogs ears made it obvious that she had a yeast infection, and I sprayed them twice a day for 5 days with tea tree oil, chamomile and aloe, cleaned them daily, and have had no more problems. You can make a weak vinegar solution and spray the dog's ears once a week to keep them clean, also..

I see too many people blindly following the doctor's orders and paying through the nose for it, or worse. I did, just this past spring. My dachshunds got very very sick with kennel cough and a secondary respiratory infection which they caught from an adopted dog. All they would drink was warm chicken broth which I made, and they had green mucous actively running from their noses. I was applying hot packs and massaging it out, forcing them to sneeze, etc. The pup made it.

The antibiotics which they gave my older dog were too strong for him, and resulted in his liver shutting down, and I had him put down 6 days short of his 15th birthday. This was just 22 days after I put my 10 y/o Basset girl down to cancer, for which the same office but another vet wanted $500 to operate - when the cancer had already spread to the lymph gland above the leg. I kept her home and comfortable, and when she became uncomfortable from the pain, I asked the vet for painkillers for her. HE REFUSED! I didn't have the money at the time to take her to another vet, so I gave her buffered aspirin and a veterinary herbal tincture for anxiety, massaged her a lot, and slept on the floor with her and the other dogs in a dog pack for 5 nights until my next check came in and I could afford to put her down. I took her blankets and pillow from home with her, and stayed with her. She was quiet and comforted. I took her to another vet for the euthanasia, and will never frequent that heartless SOB again for making my poor girl suffer.

Most vets have become big business ventures, and small clinics or travelling vet aides would be preferable and more affordable, offering better and more comprehensive services in many cases, in my opinion.
I go by price. That's the key. That is why walmart does so well. Folks will give up originality, quality.based on price.

I wish my vet offered shots without charging a stupid VET VISIT charge, just to walk in the door. Especially on 'legally mandatory' shots, like rabies.

I wish my vet didn't rake me over the coals on every little thing.
I work for a vet and I wish he would offer equine services. Then I could get 50% off of my horse vet bills and I would be very happy! Plus I have always wanted to work for a large animal vet.

What kinds of fruits/veggies can I feed my Rabbit?

Besides lettuce. My bunny has no food, and I won't be able to get some until tomorrow. He's hungry though, and red pepper, and broccoli are the only veggies I have on hand. I may be able to get some other kinds from a neighbour.
I've heard that carrots are bad for domesticated rabbits. Is the same true of any other veggies or fruits?
Thanks for your input!
Answers:
I hope you're not feeding iceburg lettuce.iceburg lettuce is very bad to feed to rabbits. The high water content causes them to get the runs. A bunny with runs can go downhill very quickly and even die. Carrot tops and roots can be given, but the carrot itself is hard to digest and usually causes the runs. Don't give potatoes.

The best thing to feed your rabbit until you can get more pellets is fresh green herbs. These are things like parsley, basil, clover, dill, cilantro and mint. These are VERY good for your rabbit.

Also, green leafy vegetables are good too. These are things like broccoli (NO stems---only crowns/leaves), celery (cut into small chunks), zuchinni, cucumber, kale, watercress, and romaine or leaf lettuce.

Give fruit sparingly.fruits have a LOT of sugar in them and rabbits can't digest sugar as effectively as other ingredients. That said, good fruits for rabbits are: apple, banana, strawberries, papaya, blueberry, grapes, pear, peach, and pineapple.

Remember, just because it's a vegetable, herb, or fruit, doesn't mean it's automatically safe to feed it to your rabbit. Wild rabbits don't often encounter half of the vegetables/fruits/herbs available, and so they usually cannot digest them properly. Natural doesn't mean safe. After all, those red christmas flowers (poisettes?) are natural, but are TOXIC. The same goes for some fruits/vegetables/herbs. So please don't listen to people who tell you that any fruit/vegetable is safe---not all of them are and taking such advice is putting your beloved pet at risk.

Hope that helps.
those are fine babe, they don't get pellets in the wild, they like hay and grass too..almost any veggie is fine.
broccoli
how about a nice stir-fry.actually I hear rabbits go will with stirfry.
poor bunny. why dont you have food??
carrots, lettuce, apples work good too. that way they get the vitamins they need.

:-)
anything they cant chock on
I give my rabbits jalpenos.
If you're not sure, go to the library (tomorrow) and get a book on rabbits.
pretty much any thing he will eat_ try some grass from the lawn
The only real no-nos as far as veggies/fruits for bunnies are bananas. They are like bunny-cocaine. Once they eat them, they will refuse to eat anything but, and will become sickly. My rabbits love green leafy stuff like cilantro, parsley, mint leaves and celery. They are high in nutrients and will sustain your bunny until you get some pellets and timothy hay tomorrow. :)
They LOVE Granny Smith apples!
omg just feed him broccoli or leaf type of veggie..or an apple
apples and they are easy to get or cheerios or another cereal without alot of sugar maybe trix-no wait they are for kids
he can definitely eat the broccoli and lettuce. And carrots are not bad for domesticated rabbits if you dont' give them a lot. You should do a google online, you should be able to find a site that will tell you all the no-nos for rabbits. That's what I did when I got my cats so I would be sure to clear out the old wives tales and get real facts.
Red peppers are actually very good for rabbits. They eat all sorts of veggies.
I don't know what anyone has told you, but I have had rabbits all my life an am a bit of an expert, your bunny should only be eating about 1/4 cup of pellets a day, any more can make them obese, and it just isn't what they need.
You should be feeding him timothy hay, that is where most of his diet should come from, rabbits love hay! You should be able to get it at the store where you buy your rabbit food, trust me, hay is important.
Carrots aren't bad, but they are high in a lot of vitimins that rabbits don't need, if you feed carrots only a couple of baby carrots.
Slice up the pepper and give him some of the slices for now.
Trust me on the hay!
celery,carrots,leafy green veggies,
Go to the House Rabbit Society website. It's important not to give your bunny too much kale or spinach because they have are high in oxalates/goitrogens and eating them all the time will make a rabbit sick. Also, anything with lots of Vitamin A is good.
And try to feed him pellets made out of timothy, not alfalfa. Alfalfa is cheaper and more common, but timothy is much healthier.
Here's the site: http://www.rabbit.org/. You can get a good list of what's poisonous there, too. And it's a long list.
Don't give your rabbit too much veggies. Your rabbit won't want to eat what in its food dish. If have unflavored rolled oats , cheerios, or wheat muffets on hand, give them to your rabbit if you don't have pellets. If you have hay give that as well. Your rabbit will enjoy it.

Fruits is great for your rabbit but in small amounts. They contain alot of sugar. I feed my bunny blueberries because they are not that high in sugar. I also give her pineapple, its great for the digestive track and it will help with any fur balls.

I read from once that you shouldn't feed your bunny broccoil and peas. They are very gasy veggies and they can cause stomach problems in your rabbit because they do not burp or fart. I don't know if that is true, because others say to feed it to your bunny.

Also do not give too much apple or carrots to your rabbit. They are very high in sugar and can cause your rabbit to become a diabetic if you give too much.

I think for one night it should be okay and I think your rabbit will be forgiving to you for not having its normal pellets.

I have a link for you that might help you to know what to feed your rabbit.
here is a great website.

Answers:
Rats are wonderful pets, I have four right now, they are very intelligent, clean and friendly animals. Every time I walk into my pets room they are up on the sides of their cage wanting to come out and I have never been bitten by any of my rats however they do kiss alot. They also know their names and the sound of their treat jar. Their basic care is pretty simple, they need their cage cleaned at least once a week and their food dish and water bottle full at all times and they should also get fresh veggies every day. Also they love time out of their cage and should get a minimum of thirty minutes out every night, if you cant spend the time with them on some days you can rat proof a room such as the bathroom and let them play together. Room temperature is fine, try to keep them out of direct sunlight and drafts. The price per month that it takes to care for a rat depends alot on what you are feeding, using for bedding, etc. An average range would be $25-50. And of course you could go up from there and depending on where you buy your food and bedding it could be a little cheaper. This amount does not include any amount for vet bills, they need checkups every six months and they are prone to tumors, respiratory problems and as they age cysts. I would start putting a little money back each month just in case of an emergency. Supplies you will need include

Cage: at least two square feet per rat and wire, aquariums do not give good enough ventilation and can cause illness because of this. Ferret or Guinea pig cages work great. Make sure whatever cage you get does not have wire on the floor this can cause bumble-foot in rats. Also check the bar spacing to make sure a rat could not get out or get its head stuck.

Bedding: AVOID CEDAR AND PINE these cause respiratory problems and liver damage, aspen is safe if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, carefresh and yesterdays news are good as well.

Food dish and water bottle: I recommend a ceramic dish for food because they cant be chewed like plastic and are heavier so dont tip as easily as the stainless steel ones.

Food: Pellets called Lab block or rat block are best because they will pick only what they want out of the seed mixes and leave the rest so they dont get a complete diet. Mazuri is a good brand.

Chews: They need chew sticks to keep their teeth trimmed down whole nuts in the shells, dog biscuits and lab blocks work great for this also.

Hides:A shoebox with a hole in the side works well as does commercially bought hides

Toys: Hammocks, ladders and bird toys are great, rats are very intelligent and will get bored easily without stimulation. Here is a site that shows you how to make your own toys http://www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm.

Treats: Fruits, yogurt, pasta and dog biscuits are great as are hamster and rat treats that you can buy from the pet store.

Another rat: rats are very social and do best in at least pairs (same sex) they groom each other and snuggle and play together they will not bond any less with you if you get pairs and they will enjoy their lives so much more.

Good luck and here are pics of my babies and cage

Good Luck and thank you for doing some research before you buy the pet.
The main things to consider when thinking about keeping rats are cage size and attention.

Rats need really large cages. If you want to keep two rats should really have a cage at least 3 feet high and wide by about the 2 feet deep.

Also they need lots of attention and should be taken out of the cage for ideally an hour a day.

Actual care (food and bedding) is much the same as any other rodents.
A sizeable cage, shavings (NOT CEDAR OR PINE), plenty of toys, nice sized water bowl, and you need plenty of love. Also, rats can roam the house from time to time with supervision. The whole thing+rat costed me about 50, but I already had stuff around the house.
A cat with a hat to keep your rat fat.
What You Need to Know about Pet Rats
Rat Facts
Average life span of 2-3 years.
Length: body 9-11 inches; tail 7-9 inches.
Nocturnal, so will be most active at night.
Males are called bucks, females are does, and babies are pups or kittens.
Rats are social so do best if kept with another rat (or group of rats).
Rats reach puberty very young - at 6-8 weeks of age. They shouldn't be bred this young, though, so make sure males and females are separated before this age.
Females go into heat every 4-5 days (for about 24 hours) and may seem agitated or restless during this time.
Wide range of markings, as well as varieties (e.g. standard/smooth, rex, hairless, tailless).
About Keeping Rats as Pets

Rats are intelligent, social animals that can make wonderful pets.
Easily tamed.
Relatively easy to care for, but are not low maintenance pets.
Require a fair amount of attention and exercise time outside of their cages (at least an hour a day is ideal).
For more info, see site below
The post above was awesome! Just wanted to emphasize what they said about pairs. Rats NEED friends! Never get a single rat.

Check out the Dapper Rat for fun things to do with your new pet. It also has lots of great articles for rat owners, the author has a wonderful sense of humor.

Rodent wheels and the plastic balls so they can run around the house. You can also tear strips from an old rag and throw them in the cage. They'll use that to make a nest. And lots of things to chew on. They need hard things to chew on so their teeth don't get overgrown. And another thing they love is empty paper towel rolls.
cheese
Do not feed rodents cheese! It can make them obese and in some cases cause them to perform cannibalism! Other than that, Boober Fraggle (nice to meet another fraggle around here) has a good answer.
Well, I have one too!!I'll provide all sources.
Bedding(s):
This fluffy bed stuff
Food(s):
Pellets, Rat/mice mix.
Treat(s):
Berries,Cheerios,nuts,,bananas. peices(small-no skin).
Toys:
Toilet paper rolls, Tunnels, wheels, these little rope deals, Running Balls,Huts,Hammoks(only some, actually 4 ferrets but they will use e'm!)
That's it.but I will list the sources!
Well, first thing is pet rats like company. They are communal animals, and will be happier and healthier with a friend with them (a rat, no other rodents as they will kill another species).

They also love fruit (banana, apple, grape, watermelon, orange, strawberry, honeydew, fresh pineapple, etc) and veggies (peas, carrots, green beans, corn cob as a occasional treat only, some romain lettuce as an occasionall treat [too much water = loose bowels], broccoli, etc), cooked plain pasta with no salt, butter or sauce on it, a leftover steak bone or chicken bone (ours prefer steak over chicken), the occasional dog biscuit, etc.

When it's hot we also freeze ice cubes with fruit in it for them. Also plain ice will be licked and even laid upon (they will lay on it to cool off if it's too hot for them). Occasionally we'd give them a mealworm or feeder fish in a dish.

For toys: anything they can climb! Ours loved toilet paper tubes that we stuffed with tissue and treats, plastic containers closed with tissue and treats (they would work together to open the lids), cat jingle balls (they'd pick them up and play ball with them), ping pong balls, shredded paper (great for hide and seek), etc.

Ours also had daily free-roaming exercise. We'd let them out everyday, and they had the run of the room. We set up things with treats and toys, lots of places to hide and explore, etc.

Ours were fed a base diet of horse feed (called horse treats - large blocks), with suppliments daily. The suppliments were fruit and veggies, along with other grains and sometimes meat we had ourselves. We were proud to have our rat colony (yes, we were breeders, now keep only as pets), go from having an average amount of cancer to none in the final 2 years of breeding. We avoided sugary foods (comercial foods, not counting natural sugars in fruit and veggies), commercial pet foods, etc. We'd also feed baby foods (the kind without additives, suagr and salt), in a little dish, they loved all kinds (chicken, beef and blueberries were favorites).

Fresh water daily, and in hot weather (we're in a semi-arrid climate) we would spray they cages with a cool mist to help keep them cool.

Ours were kept in communities of no less than 6 rats. Males and females were seperate of course, unless we were breeding a specific female.

Our youngest cat would play with them too, when she was smaller. She was no bigger than our largest rats (albeit they were 3lbs each). Supervised of course.

We had a lot of rats in the past 11 years. All were wonderful, and only a small amount were nasty (those were rescues, former breeding machines). But all got along great and we almost never had any problems with them. Out of approximately 300 rats, only 4 actually had to be euthanized due to illness. All others were great.

Anyways, this is a book! Best of luck with your rats!

TDK
This isn't supplies but it's a fun trick. Take frozen peas and put them in a shallow bowl of lukewarm water. The rats will have fun trying to get the peas out. Just make sure you dry them off with a washcloth when they are done playing.
Pet rats are very social creatures that like to investigate their surroundings.
You have to keep them safe while they do this.
Vary their diet to get them healthy and spend time with them.

When your are not around supply them with toys to play with and things to chew so they are not bored.

what kind of stingray killed steve irvin?

when i take my nephews to the aquarium where i live, they are allowed to put shrimp on a stick and let the stingray eat it. is this the same kind of stingray that can cause death? i would like the species and educated people to answer.
Answers:
It is the same kind of stingray that can cause death. the staff at the aquariums trim the barb before they put the stingray in the water. the children are always feeding the stingray at certain times of the day. a full belly helps prevent the stingray from using the barb. out in the wild like where steve was was a dangerous place to film a documentary. he was on a reef in austrailia. i would assume that there are sharks looking for stingrays to eat. that is when the stingray use their barb. to fend off sharks. or when they are hungry. if he was in an aquarium, he probably would have been luckier.
The stingrays that people can touch and interact with at zoos and aquariums have had their barbs removed. Their venom is mild anyway. They are not aggressive animals, and people are usually stung while stepping on them in the water, of course, if you get a 10 inch barb in the heart, like Steve Irwin, that will kill you, but if you get a 10 inch anything in the heart, that's fatal, too. Don't worry about the little ones in the zoos, they are actually very affectionate and love to interact with humans. You have a greater chance of getting E.Coli or Salmonella at a petting zoo, than you do being killed by anything at an aquarium.
It was a Stingray Barb or "Dasyatidae" that killed Steve Irvin.

Really, it was a fluke that Steve actually died from this, because:

Dasyatids generally do not attack aggressively, or even actively defend themselves. When threatened, their primary reaction is to swim away. However, when they are attacked by predators or stepped on, the barbed stinger in their tail is mechanically whipped up. This attack is normally ineffective against their main predator: sharks. Humans are usually stung in the foot; it is also possible, although less likely, to be stung by brushing against the stinger. Contact with the stinger causes local trauma (from the cut itself), pain and swelling from the venom, and possible infection from parts of the stinger left in the wound. Injuries to humans include, but are not limited to: poisoning, punctures, severed arteries and possible death. Fatal stings, such as that which killed Australian naturalist and television personality Steve Irwin, a much loved animal documentarian, in 2006, are extremely rare. (As of 1996, worldwide known deaths from stingray barb injuries numbered 17.) As of 2001 there has been only one person documented to have survived a stingray injury to the heart. Also, in case of Irwin, it was the site of injury (the heart) and the wound that proved to be fatal, and the not the venom of the stingray.

I'm sure that your nephew and you will be just fine at the aquarium and that they will exercise every caution in keeping the both of you safe.
If your that worried dont let your nephew feed them.
i was never told the exact species if stingray that killed the guy, i really feel for him, but i think you have more of a chance getting into a koolaid induced coma that getting stung by one at the aquarium. they make sure that the stingrays are trimmed alot, they dont need a lawsuit to take them down, so i see anything that the aquarium can have asfar as interactive learning stuff is %99 physically harmless, unless you trip and fall down some concrete stairs or fall on a buff handicaped person, other than that, the place is safe, the government doesnt like fun to come at a cost of safty, just look at the airline super bomb detection system, no fun there!
The stingray that killed Steve was a large Bull Ray. He was swimming beside it while his cameraman was ahead of it. It became frightened and reacted with a defensive action. I can just hear Steve saying "It was all my fault mate! Don't blame the ray!" Less than 20 people have EVER been killed by stingrays. There aren't any that are more dangerous than others. It was a freak accident that it's stinger went right in his heart. Stings from stingrays, while painful, are almost never fatal.

What kind of squirrel do I have? I am taking care as best as I can, but I am dizzy with all the info out there

I have read so much on the internet about baby squirrels, everyone recommends something different. But I'm not sure what kind of squirrel I have, might be a flying squirrel as it seem to have slightly webbed sides, But I'm not sure. It seem to be doing ok, but not pooping as far as I can tell. I get a headache reading the 9000 sites about what to do, when I'm not even sure what I have. Please help!!
Answers:
It needs to be on puppy formula, every couple of hours. Most people think kitten formula is best, but it doesn't work well with baby squirrels. The momma licks them to stimulate them to go poop, so you'll have to wipe the little butt with a moist cotton ball (warm water if possible) so it can go after feeding it. If you don't do it, the baby will die. After a few weeks it'll be able to go on its own, but it takes a while. If you have any questions, email me. I raised 3 baby red squirrels and it was a joy, after the newborn stage when they kinda looked like mice, they get really cute, and very funny.

DO NOT give it nuts, any kind of nut will kill it! Babys can't eat them, not until its a lot older.

Can't find how to contact you, looks like YA has changed, so if you have questions, email me at trentroy@yahoo.com
it doesn't matter right now, figure it out when it's older.
they all eat similar things, so it wouldn't be a problem.
Is it red (red squirrel) or black (black squirrel) or grey (grey squirrel)? Does it have web of skin stretched between its legs (flying squirrel)?

It doesn't sound like it is doing OK. They are tough to keep as pets and can get frantic and die from the excitement of being kept in a cage.
Well, honestly I hate squirrels, but, In kittens, to stimulate them to poop, the mother cat licks their butt.
So my suggestion is to warm wet water on Q-tips or a wash cloth, and gently wipe its butt like a mother would lick its baby clean, see if that helps to stimulate the muscles.
Tiny drops of Cod liver oil mixed with the food you give it might also help!
Feed it some peanuts which they love an put some water in a little cup then in the morning call a vet an ask "how do you feed a squirrel"?
Good luck!!
I'm glad "Malak" knows what they are doing and can give you some experienced advice.you will probably get more confused as you hear things from people who have never even been closer to a squirrel than in a park. As kind as it is of you to take this on, it is a time consuming task and full of responsibility. I know you have already looked at a lot of websites, however here is one more for you.
http://www.squirrel-rehab.org/ This website provides a list of wildlife rehab/rescue organizations that may be close to you. I live in an area with a lot of squirrels, and have even taken a baby squirrel in myself to one such place. The baby was taken care of, raised by experts and released into an area that was appropriate for it to survive very well. Good luck to you and the little guy.
cheapest safest thing is to buy some goats milk they sell it in the grocery stores. pending on the squirrel you can use a small bottle, eye dropper or syringe to feed it. It needs to be fed every 2 - 3 hours. Get a shoe box and put a small hand towel in the bottom and a thick towel under the box. get a heating pad and put it under the towel under the box. keep it on the lowest setting. and check often to be sure it doesnt get to hot. if it sees to be too warm put another towel between the box and the pad. Be sure to wipe its little hiney with a warm damp cloth or cotton ball to help it relieve itself. do this after every feeding.

What kind of spidres are these that I found in my vent?

I have just moved into a trailer, and I was cleaning out the vents. Well in one of the vents, I found a hard clod of dirt. At first it looked like a rock, so I picked it up with a plastic bag. I noticed that on the bottom of it it had several holes in it. I took it outside and cracked it open. When I did, it was full of baby spiders and they all fell out. They were a little bit smaller than my fingernail and looked brown in color, although I am not sure exactly what color they are they looked brown. I need to know what kind of spiders these are and if they are poison. I have a 2 month old .

Its near impossible to answer without a pic of it.
Do a yahoo, or google search on spider species. Try finding out what spiders are in your area and see if you find any that match what you saw.
capture one and take it by your county agent, hell be able to tell ya
Your best bet would be to either try to catch one and take it to your local DNR station.or do an internet search for spiders that are native to your area.Chances are that they are probably just little house or garden spiders, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Can u give more detail please like the place your in ie UK or USA anyway this site might be able to help you out with any problems (the forum)

What kind of spider?

I stepped on a spider, well it was dark and when I looked down to make sure that I didn鈥檛 have it still on my shoe, I noticed that it wasn鈥檛 on my shoe but there was a lot of fuzziness on my shoe. So I turned on the light and looked, there were thousands of baby spiders on my shoe and I looked down at the dead spider and thousands of baby spiders were walking away from the mothers body. She was carrying her babies on her back or stomach. So my question is what kind of spider does that? I wasn't able to tell what it was because she was squished. Mind you I live in west central Illinois..Thanks

Sorry if this isn't in the right category, not sure where to put it.
Answers:
The wolf spider's young (spider-lings) crawl on the mother for protection. The one's I've seen in Missouri are not hairy though. They must have been newly hatched and she was looking for a place to let them go. I just watched an egg sac hatch out about 3 weeks ago. The mother carries it around in her mouth until it is time for them to hatch out. We kept our female in a Ziploc container with a lid on it, just long enough to watch and then set the whole thing (minus the lid) out in my flower garden. The tiny spider-lings started to make webs right away. You can see pictures of various wolf spiders at below listed site. Missouri and Illinois also have several kinds of fishing spiders. They look hairier and are a minimum of 2".
I don't know, but that would scare the living CRAP out of me!
First off, thats mean to kill a spider, especially becuase it eats mosquitos. Second off, i can almost promise you it was a wolf spider.
Sounds like a wolf spider.
i dont know what kind maybe a pet tarantula got out but dang yuck! call the bug man to spray for spiders.
stick to booze , the drugs don`t work
Sounds like a wolf spider to me. Don't get bit by one. It isn't pleasant.
Lots of spiders do that. I'm from an area near yours. I see those common big ugly fuzzy spiders do that sometimes.
There are lots of spiders that carry their baby's on their back. One is the Wolf spider.
most spiders do that. The mother had probably laid her egg sack in one location, and probably felt that that location was in danger, so she was moving

looks like she chose the wrong time to move to another apartment!
i think a lot of spiders carry their babies in their stomachs or whatever, if you kill a spider and it has babies they will all come out when she dies.
There are several spiders that will carry their babies on their bellies or backs. I killed one when I lived in texas and thousands of babies came off her. It would depend on the size and color of the spider but it was most likely just your common house spider, or a wolf spider those can get pretty big.
If it had a red dot on it stomach your in trouble becuz that is the massive spread of black widows but if not ,then your pretty safe and dont have to worry about a thing
Charlotte from Charlot's web
We have always called them wolf spiders. They carry their children on their back. They don't make webs but live in holes in the ground next to the foundation of the house. They are not dangerous to you. But pretty creepy.
brown recluse or "wolf spider" their very poisonous
they carry their babies on their back
whatever it is its scary and wierd how you can step on the spider but the babies are still alive
wolf spider
Depends what the mum looked like, all answers with a type of spider unless there CAN"T say because ALL spiders produce around 1000 spiders, if that figur looks wrong then one thousand could of most likly been a garden spider. were they little yellow looking dots?. Alot of spiders carry babies on their back and first defense is for the babies to get to a safe place and they find the safest thing (maybe your foot seemed to be safe), you would of had trouble killing the babies as they are about the size of a full stop ( .) to about the size of a childs little finger nail, this is as babies.

what kind of spider is this?

its got black and yellow legs and the abdomen is yellow and its about 3 inches long..i have never seen this kind before and i dont know where i can look it up at.
Answers:
It's a graden spider called argiope. It's generally harmless. It preys on insects. The black and yellow design is natural camouflage to protect from birds. Visit http://www.fcps.k12.va.us/stratfordlandi.

i saw one like that in my back yard recently and i never saw none like that b4 either it wuz fuckin huge u hear me? u could see its fangs standing 5 feet away from it
widow spider
probably just a house spider who ran thru some yellow paint..
just a fyi: Black widows are black with a red hourglass shape on their abdomens.
Oh Oh Oh! I know what it is! It's a garden spider, I think. We had those at my old house, theyr harmless. Still, I don't have an exact look, so best to look it up on the internet.
I don't what kind of spiders it is but kill it, I hate spiders
it sounds like a writing spider. you know like charlotte. we used to have one that lived at the end of our horse barn. quite convenient for her and for us. great spiders to keep. they are docile and help keep the unwanted bugs away.

what kind of spider is black and yellow?

what kind of spider is black and yellow, pretty big..has a stitching in th e center of web ..we call them banana spiders but what really is it and is it dangerous..i was told they jump..i live in louisiana and see them alot including today
Answers:
If i am correct it is called a Garden Spider(Argiope)which i most certainly think i am sure that it is a garden spider. Garden spiders are not dangersous theBlack and Yellow Garden Spiders are harmless to humans. Because they are large, many people fear them; however, not only are they harmless, but they do a lot of good. These spiders eat large amounts of insect pests, such as flies, mosquitoes, and aphidsy actually do alot of good.

However i do not think they jump. Jumping spiders, all of which are in the family Salticidae, are among the most interesting spider groups to watch. Jumping spiders come in many sizes and color patterns. Active hunters during the day, they have good eyesight, relying primarily on movement to locate prey. They stalk their prey before attacking in a fast leap. Jumping spiders put out a line of webbing when they jump and can sometimes be seen dangling from this silken dragline after a leap that fails.
Many jumping spiders are bold, stocky and often brightly colored. They often have conspicuous bands of black and white on their bodies or legs. Others have velvety red abdomens and some even have metallic colors on the chelicerae. Jumping spiders have eight eyes, with one large pair in the front. Like most spiders, jumping spiders are not considered hazardous to humans and are unlikely to bite unless cornered or handled.

The bold jumper, Phidippus audax, is one of the most common and conspicuous of the jumping spiders. It is black with a distinct irregular orange to white spot on the back of the abdomen. It can be found in gardens and around homes.

hope that was of some help to you, lol sounds like you live near a garden or someone with many plants
It sounds like you are talking about the Garden Orb spider -- if so, they are not dangerous unless you are a fly.
There's a cool website called "What's That Bug?" that might answer your question (there are several photo galleries with identifying info).

Here's the link:

http://whatsthatbug.com/

If you don't see your banana spider there, you can send the site editor a pic, and they'll try to identify it for you.
It is the common garden spider. It does bite though. It will cause a large welt and pain at the bite site.
no it's not ,I don't know the name , but it's a garden spider
I,2 believe it is a bananna spider. Don't know it's real name. They are harmless but scary looking. Most spiders can jump
There are a couple of those that live on the side of my house at certain times of the year. Their garden spiders, and even though they're creepy, they're completely harmless. And no, they won't jump on you, they never have on me, and they've been there since I can remember.
we called them the golden orb or web spiders, they are beautiful
I like having them around, my son used to catch bugs and hand feed the spiders

what kind of spider has stripes on its legs and a silver back?

Answers:
That would be Argiope florida, the Silver Backed Argiope spider.
Spider identification can be really tricky. There's a website called spiderbiz that may help you.
Try this link it may help you identify your spider
Many varieties of spiders are known to have this striping pattern on their legs. Several spiders come to mind that have a silver back. I have attached a page here with many different spiders on it. I think spider you are talking about is actually (Argiope trifasciata), they are a very common "garden spider" that are completely harmless to humans. They build beautifult webs which are surprisingly efficient at snaring mosquitoes, and other biting flies.
I hope this helps!

what kind of spider has a yellow and black belly with a silverish back?

chrome/silver back. yellow and belly. brown/tan stripped legs
Answers:
it sounds like a garden variety spider. We have several varieties in my area and they are all equally beautiful and poisonous. Their bite will cause you great pain so don't play with it or try and tame it.
They are great for killing off unwanted bugs and here in Alabama we like to see them in our garden becuse we know that the pests will be fewer. ust give them their space and you will get along fine. LOL
Garden spiders come in all colors and color combinations so look them up and you will probably see one like the won you are seeing at your place.
I don't stay around long enough to describe ANY spider except to scream ..AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. get it!
I'm not sure, Jake. I hope you find your answer. I just dislike the things!
Bolus or angling spider sounds most like what you described. The silver back is puzzling though.

What kind of snails do I have and do they need to mate?

Okay, I just got two little snails for my fish aquarium. I read about a type of snail called an Apple water snail. Is that what kind these are? They are about the size of a pea and they are brown. I want them to multiply and eat the algae and stuff in my tank. I had this kind once before and they multiply like nuts. But do they need to mate or do they reproduce asexually? I only have two and i have no clue how to tell if they are male or female so if this kind needs to mate to reproduce then I might need some more. Help? Please?
Answers:
Not all snails are asexual, if they are apple snails then they are either male or female. Here is a site that will teach you all about them an even if they are another type they will tell you that too. http://www.applesnail.net/
First off, from where I am I can't tell what species of snail you have. All snails(that I am aware of) are EXTREMELY small when they are young. All snails are male and Female. As long as you have two snails they can breed because technically they are male and female! Strange isn't it.
Dont' know anything about snails, sorry. Maybe you can ask a pet store or get a library book on the different types or search the web.
Snails are asexual and can reproduce on their own. But, I've been told that they are most likely to do so if there are multiple snails in the tank.

I had 5 snails at one point and none of them reproduced. Other people told me that they had only 1 and it reproduced like crazy and then they had way too many.

What kind of small pet is best for a small apartment?

Answers:
fish or a bird, or something in a cage. Its not fair to dogs and cats to keep them enclosed in a tiny space. I have an aquarium in every room of my apartment(4)( I live in basement suite in my son's house) and am considering adding a few upstairs at my son's house. I've already given him 3 of my house plants. He has bearded dragons, also in an enclosure, and some of them are very friendly
Fish or bird
A fake one.
cats
hmaser
ginea pigs
snake
small dog
does this apartment allow animals?
a small puppy.
lIST ABOVE BY "DON'T KNOW" IS PERFECT!
aquariums can add a nice look to your place. they can be expensive to run though (larger aquariums) i have a 40 gallon and have spent almost 100 bucks on filters in the past 6 month cause they keep breaking. you can always buy just a small 10 gallon aquarium kit that comes tih everything in it too. of if your not a fan of the fish then a rodent could be another alternative such as a guinea pig. I used to have one. thay are so adorable! he would be running around in our dinign room area and would run up to the fridge when the fridge door opened. lol cause he knew that, that meant LETTUCE! he never bit me and was very tame and loving. unfortunately i was allergic to him but tried to provide the best for him. he lived to be about 5 which is the normal life expectancy for the animals. a chinchilla (which im looking into getting) i hear is a very good pet. they dont smell as long as you keep their cage clean and you give them a dust bath. they are nocturnal so thay may be noisy at night when running around and I read their life expectancy is 10-15 years but its not uncommon for them to live from 18-22 years. so tat would be more of a long term relationship. good luck! =)

or you can always get a small dog of a cat if your landlord is okay with it.
a cat. it won't make a mess, but just make sure you have a litter box.
Get a pop belly pig.
as long as it isn't an animal that has to be caged up its entire life.
I would pick a smal cute dog, like a papileon or a pomerian.

I live in a rent in apartment and have a medium sized dog. A australian sheperd.
A rat - they are very clean, require minimal space, and are intelligent, sociable animals that eventually learn to respond to their name and can even be taught a few tricks. Plus, they're easy to look after if you go away on a trip or something, just have someone come in and give em food and water (and they eat seeds and fruit/veggies). Rats also never bite, unless they are being injured.
Gerbils, guniea pigs and ferret's are all easy, quiet and a lot of fun
hamster
toy chiuaiua
guiena pig..
fish
theres not much .
i hope i helped
cat
get fish
Female ferret. Ferret's can be litter box trained like cats, and if properly cared for don't stink like popular belief. I wash my ferrets cage completely every weekend and scoop the litter poo out every morning. I say a female because males are aggressive. Females arent in the slightest. Ferrets are affectionate and FUNNY. They are such little comedians. They don't make any noise axcept a little laugh like sound when they are really happy and trying to get you to play with them. Ferrets are the best. Oh yeah, they don't shed much either. It's pretty much seasonal. before summer they shed and that's about it.

What kind of shoe do I use on a american saddlebred, I have toe clips in front, ? in back?

need name of shoe and where to purchase in Kentucky
Answers:
i would talk to your farrier about what kind of riding you do, how much, how often ect. my farrier provides the shoes i put on my show horse (the other one doesn't need shoes). if you don't show your horse you proabaly don't need to buy him special shoes. in fact it is better for the horses hoofs and legs to be bare foot. some horses need shoes because their hoofs crack or cruble. but if they have ok feet and you don't ride them a ton they don't need shoes. every horse is different. talk to the vet or farrier.
Well, I've never owned a Saddlebred, but I do have my share of Horses (2 to be exact).

First off, consider what kind of terran you ride on the most. If its gravel roads and trails, then just your standard horseshoe might work the best. Same thing if its an arena.

Also, consider the condition of your horse's feet. A shoe thats too 'heavy duty', for example a shoe thats ment for endurance riding, might make him a little bit sore.

Just use your own judgement, and you can always ask your Ferrier to suggest a type of shoe.

what kind of saddle would be best for pole-bending?

Answers:
i use a barrel racing saddle for just about every thing.i have trained many horses mainly barrel and roping horse that went on to be use in most play day events. barrel saddles are deep and rough seated.i even break my colts in one.
LOL!!
I like to be sure to have one that has a good fit to myself and my horse I don't like to tall of a horn wear chaps and be sure to move your legs properly the smaller the saddle the better not to much fancy stuff if you know what I mean
Definitely a western or all purpose saddle that fits both you and your horse well!
I use a barrel saddle. You can by them for pretty chep but they can get spendy. I have a purple barrel saddle for sale the seat is purple and the two back corners. I comes with a breast collar and headstall. Also reins but the reins are not for pole bending. If purple is not you color than I suggest country supply, dover saddlery, our state line tack. If you a lot of money to spend there is a place in texas but I am not sure of the name. Just email me and I will give you more info. Just post a question asking for me and I will give you my e-mail. Hope this helps.
look for a smaller, lighter western saddle with a small horn tht is tilted more forward. There is a type of saddle called a barrel racing saddle, or a barrel saddle , that is used for those who compete in contesting classes a lot.
I prefer english for everything but it seems like most use western
One of the big points of a "barrel" saddle is the skirt cut. It is short and rounded so that it won't interfere with the motion of the hind legs on tight turns and high speeds. They also tend to be lighter with deep comfortable seats like mentioned. They are good for small or young horses since they have shorter backs. I use mine for all speed events and trail riding.

What kind of restrictions are there for taking pets across state lines?

We are taking 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 parakeet by car across the US. Any restrictions or do we need any paperwork?
Answers:
We've driven cross country with our dog several times and it's never an issue. The only place you should have a problem is if you're crossing borders! We hid our dog to get into Canada! Good luck
im not sure but if you call your town hall they might know
DEPENDS ON THE ANIAML, IF YOUR TAKING A TIGER WITH YOU , YOU SHOULD CHECK WITH THE STATE
Shot records, license, and proof of purchase.
Across state lines there shouldn't be any problem (not like there is a border crossing there anyway). If you are worried about it, take their vaccination records (usually people only care if they are vaccinated against rabies), but I highly doubt you will run into any trouble. Crossing international borders is a different story, but state borders, nah.
Call your vet. You'll need to schedule an appointment with your vet, probably a day or so before leaving so that he/she can give a complete physical. They should fill out a health certificate for each animal (I'm not sure about the bird). You will need to let them know how many states you are going through, and where exactly you'll be stopping. The certificate is only good for 7 or 10 days and so you'll probably have to find another vet on the way if it takes any longer than that.

What kind of pony or horse do l need to get for my self ?

l weight 145 lbs / 6'2' / what kind of saddle do l need to get ?
Answers:
safe sound and sane. Forget breed - there's good and bad in all breeds. A quarter horse is no more gentle than a morgan or appaloosa solely based on breed. There's many quarter horses NOT suitable for beginners. Look for one that you get along with. Don't worry too much on color, breed etc unless you're looking at showing. What kind of saddle depends on what you're going to do. Many like the Western saddles - but if you're doing an English discipline that's out. Trail riding you could also use an Australian saddle - which I really like but they sit a little different than others.
If you are riding western and just for fun and trail riding, I suggest a Wintec synthetic saddle. They are quite durable and light.
For your height, I'd not consider a pony per se. Get a good sized well trained quarter horse, between 15 1/2-16 hands tall, and a western saddle. If you don't know how to ride, I'd invest in lessons. Make sure you have the facilities to keep your horse and know how to properly take care on him. There is more to maintenance than just feeding, haying and riding. You might have to consider expense also.
weight and height do not matter!! But if you are looking for a good gentle breed then I would choose a Quarter Horse. They are fairly big in size and very loving. There are a lot of life stock auctions that you can pick them up quite inexpensive. But if you have no experience, then i suggest you take someone who knows a little.
I suggest if you want a pony a quarter pony and if you wasnt a horse then a Morgan or a
quarter horse. but it depends if you ride western
or english. western a quarter horse but either one will still do you good well at least it worked for me.
well if your looking for a good english-riding horse, i suggest a good quarter horse. i lease an polish arabian, that is not high-strung, so also consider a 13-18 year old polish arabian. they are good horses and very beautiful horses. i dont know about a pony for an older person. hope you find a good horse.
Wictec saddles last longer, are cheaper, and lighter.
well for your height i would get a horse. also to know what kind of horse and saddle to get you have to know what kind of riding you want to do. english or western. then theres lotz to choose from. jumping, dressage, roping, cattle, crosscountry. and all of those have different kinds of saddles.
I think, that if you do not have any idea to the answer to your question, then you should not get yourself a horse. They are a lot of responsibility and if you don't know what you are doing, you could easily get hurt. I would strongly suggest taking riding lessons for at least a year before considering buying a horse.
well wut do u want the horse to look like and ud probaly go for a western saddle
The saddle will depend on the animal you are saddling. Although your size is important, it is more important to make sure that the saddle fits the animal properly. Have someone who is versed in this matter help you with the specifics.
search the web maybe you will be able to find the best answers there!

What kind of plant matter do crawfish eat?

Answers:
Crawfish will eat practically anything. Seriously. They are detritous eaters, meaning any plant or organic matter they come across, they will eat it, whether it's dead or they have to catch it. They are very oppourtnistic feeders.
You don't have to feed them fish, but they will enjoy a feeder goldfish every six months if you want to spoil them, the chase of the fish will only give them a bit of exercise, which will by no means harm them. Give the crayfish some veggie scraps (uncooked), too (Anything from pea pods to ends of a cucumber to carrot peels; or even things like orange and peach slices), and a bit of very lean red meat or calimari (squid, which we find works better) once a month. (Don't use chicken or pork, this'll kill them.) Just the veggie scraps once a week; and the meat or squid once a month. One thing, though, only leave the food in the tank for two hours, otherwise it can pollute the tank water. If the crayfish eats it all before the two hours, give them more; but only leave that in for two hours, don't leave any food in the tank for longer than two hours.
There are also crayfish pellets that you can sometimes find in pet shops, you don't have to use these, but some people find these easy to use, as well.
they are bottom feeders

FERRET!! Dogs, cat, horses, fish,
Dogs, mostly German Shepherds, I have one, kitty cats, I have 2, and I love fish as pets, we have a 55 gal aquarium with angels and sharks, and a Japanese Koi pond, very calming and soothing to watch, and all can be hilarious at times.
i love dogs!! They are such great companions!!
i would like a ferret but cats and dogs are both good pets
dogs
GOLDEN RETRIEVERS are the bessssstt
maltese are sweet but require a lot of grooming

cats
sweet, loving, calm, easy to take care of (well more easy than a dog) theyre also really funny when theyre kittens

birds
dont get one unless your gonna let it fly around your house like we do with our bird. if your gonna keep it in a cage dont bather and thats just like.. mean lol

ummm hamsters, rats, mice etc
do NOT get one. they keep you up all night cause theyre noctournal, bite you when you try to pick it up, and you can basically not do anything with them. theyre like having the work of a pet, but not having a pet
My favorite pet of all is a cat
Well I have a bunny, a dog, a dog, a cat, and a rat but I like rats and dogs best.
Cats, because they're pretty self sufficient unlike a dog which requires a lot of effort. And affectionate, when they want to be. of course.

Also a snake, right now I have a cornsnake, and he's great. Again, self sufficient, not requiring vast amounts of effort or time.

What kind of pet would you recommend for me?

I'm not too picky about what of type of pet but it has to be small, sort of easy to care for, and not incredibly expensive. I wanna be able to play with it unlike a fish. Also I'm not allowed to have snakes, spiders, or rats. Anything else like gerbils, hampsters, or lizards are fine. Just those three are off limits. Any suggestions?
Answers:
How about a little dwarf rabbit? They are lovely and sweet. Lots of care and should be spayed or neutered. Guinea pigs can be nice too. Or a pionus parrot? Quite affectionate - spend time with the bird a few times before buying. I got quite attached to our little Betta fish, even though we couldn't play with him we did have fun putting new stuff in his aquarium and watching him. Hamsters are a lot of fun, with those tube things you can get for them to run in, as are gerbils.

My advice, start visiting one of the large pet store chains once or twice a week and see if a pet chooses you.
cat
dog is best
A ferret? Just because I want one :P
Scottsh terrier well they are kind of expensive but cute!
buy a turtle..you'll love it..
Parrot. Or a monkey.
KITTY! go to a PETco and most have strays for real cheep and they are still loveable!
a cat or maybe a bearded dragon.. both are easy to take care of, small and fun to play with. if you have allergies i'd stick with the dragon
a ferret!

small, playful, fun, low maintenance, incredibly cute, not moody (like cats), happy to stay in the cage or come out for a play whenever you've got time. They eat kitten food, relatively cheap, love raisins and peanutbutter.

some people think they smell, but they are sold descented. They don't mind weekly baths and will provide lots of entertainment when trying to dry themselves.

they can be litterbox trained and can also learn tricks. They love cat and dog toys and plastic carrier bags if you don't want to splash out on toys.
I would suggest a "dog" .But to need to give special attention , like vaccination,care,food,etc..

Have a visit to this site for more details
http://dog.info-revealed.com/articles/ca.

To be not expensive in taking care : u can go for cats or even parrots.
do you want to play with it out side if so then cats Ginnie pigs etc. are out
Try a dwarf bunny or a guinea pig (one is quiet the other is not)you can play with either one. Get a young one or one that likes to be handled. You have to take care of a pet, any pet needs food, water, a safe and clean place to call home and most of all love from you. Good luck with whatever pet you get.Treat it well and you will be rewarded with a happy pet that loves you.
i also work at a animal shelter,if you pick a playful cat there, good company, and hours of playful fun, with ping pong ball, packages ,descover new ones, your cat will love it,trick is to find that playful one, make lips noises, taping sound, idea, is to make a conection, to find that nutty cat like you,he respond, then you know.
Gerbils are cool. Also try a pigeon. Gerbils and pigeons are easy to take care of, and pigeons always return to you even if you set them free.
I will suggest a guinea pig. It is easy to handle and with personality. It makes noisy when it want some attention. You can teach him some tricks. Also it can toilet trained.
Ferrets are really cool! I was doubtful but my friend has four of them and they love to play! They will come to you when "called" (my friends like a squeeky toy) and can be litter trained and are socialble animals. I was suprised as how playful ferrets are. Some of them will enjoy hiding things like pens or shiny things. Good luck!
Adopt a cat or dog at your local shelter. A cat is easier to care for but a dog likes to run, fetch balls and stuff like that.
I would say get your self 2 guinea pigs.
I think a cat would be good; they don't require a lot of effort; they're very independent, and do well with dry food, water, and a litter box. There are lots of kittens out there that need good homes - many pet stores have homeless animals available for adoption, or you can look on Craig's List for people offering cats and kittens for adoption.
a rabbit! you get what you give.the more attention you give her the more attention she will give you! they dont make noise, and they have more personality than you would think.

what kind of pet should i get??

my daughter is 3 and well i want to buy her a pet but i dont know what kind of pet should i get her
Answers:
I have two pages for you. The first is full of great starter pets for young children. The second gives helpful hints for dealing with young kids and pets. I think they will help you a lot!
Right now she'd be better off with a stuffed one. No offense, but she can't take responsibility for a pet right now.
DOG, small to medium.
well my neighbor got her kid a fish and exsplained you cant touch it and if you really want it we have to feed it correctly and all that holla if you need more help
golden retriever, they are the kindest animals around
How about a betta fish? They don't require much maintenance or money on your part, just water, food, a small tank, and water conditioner. She might not be able to pet it, but it still is pretty and comes in many ornamental colors.
well I live in new york city and we get our kids hoodrats when they are very young!
that is quite young for a child to understand the responsibilities of a small animal. maybe a goldfish?
Not enough info. Are you in a house or an apartment? Do you have a yard? Do you like reptiles? Just teach her to be gentle with whatever pet you decide to get.
birds are sweet and i'm hungry
you have to be very cautious. some pets like cats bite! so think about it carefully.

P.S i think you should get a bird.
Id say Dwarf Hamster. They dont bite like everyone says. But since she is 3. A cat is a good pet.And they are good inside. unlike dogs!
Fish are boring. Dog are to much work. A Hamster is great but only if you 5-6 and older. I recomend a Cat. You could adopt a cat at a shelter that will be gentle with your daughter. If you get an older one it will more than likely be more cudely. But if you wanting a really playful active cat get a kitten.
We have 2 outside kittys that sleep in the garage. They are healthy and love to hunt. Sometimes my parents make them sleep outside. I hate when they do that!

I say u get a cat. They can be a good inside cat or a good outside cat!
