What kind of horse?

I am looking for a horse bilt for speed and jumping. What breed should I look in to getting?
Answers:
Thoroughbreds! They are amazing horses, and of course are bred for speed, but many of them are also great jumpers.
Arabians would also be a good choice. Their speed and agility are amazing, though I don't know much about how they would do with jumping.
get a 'stang
Thoroughbreds are one choice. But, I would highly recommend an Appendix (Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred cross) as most are more Thoroughbred in stature but have a better temperament.
thoroughbreds. but you have to know how to handle them. talk to your trainer about the right horse for you.
you'd be looking for a thoroughbred about 15.2-3 hands
Some good breeds are:
Anglo-Arabs (Arab x Thoroughbred)
Appaloosas
Appendix (Quarter Horse x Thoroughbred)
Arabians
Connemara Pony
Morabs (Arabian x Morgan)
Morgans
Mustang
Paint Horses
Quarabs (Arabian x Quarter Horse)
Quarter Horses
Thoroughbreds
Warmbloods
Welsh

Yes, I included stock horses. Many stock-type horses are built for speed and jumping, others not so much.
There are many breeds out there, each has it's good and bad characters.

Be open to different breeds, some individuals may turn out to be perfect for what you're looking for, even if it is not in their breed standard. Mules are usually great jumpers. There are even some gaited horses that excel in jumping.

When looking through a classified ad online, check the "Jumping" or "Jumping Prospect" areas moreso than than a breed.

Good luck with your search for a horse.
Id definately go witht he first answer you got there, Thoroughbreds are by far the best, they have competitive natures (especially the mares) and they're bred for speed. They are athletic and dont tend toward "heaviness" also, if you pick them carefully they have got the most willing temperaments and try really hard for you. I've owned and competed TB's in show jumping and eventing my whole life, infact my first "pony" was a undersized TB..*laughs*.they're great, so I really hope you decide on one of those.

Good luck, and happy riding!:)
Thoroughbred or warmblood probably. I'd recommend mustangs (I love them), but both of mine had to learn to jump, and they aren't very talented. At first, they both were of the opinion that "mustangs don't jump." But they are AMAZING horses nevertheless.
i am assuming that you want one for lower level competition. Any horse will work just fine as long as youand the horse clicl. A Quarter horse is fast and has powerful hindquarters that are good for jumping. A warmblood will work great. Arabians, I love them and I showed one for years, but because of their confirmation, they have a tendency to flatten their back over a jump instead of rounding over it. This can be corrected but it takes a lot of work to do. Thoroughbreds are good for this but I would suggest and English Thoroughbred or an Irish Thoroughbred instead of an every Thoroughbred because of the areas that the breed was developed in. These hroses have a little more weight ot them as far as muscles, they dont look as frail, and are genreally calmer and easier to work with, while still have the spirit of a Thoroughbred. Standardbreds are starting to become popular with the riding crowd as some pace and some trot. Saddlebreds are becoming huge in the Hunter/jumper and Western Show rings.these horses are some of the most versatile horses to work with, they are generally calm and easy to work with while still being very spirited. A good Saddlebred is not hard to ride but may show favoritism towards certain riders. In the end, it all comes down to which horse works for you, compliments your riding style and is a good match for you.
if your wanting a jumper and a good runner then i would suggest a Thoroughbred. they are excellent jumpers and are obviously great runners.
YEW-HAH! Quarter Horses can make good jumpers. Plus they got great speed! Hanoverians I hear are great, they have a honest/good temperament and are light horses, making them quick on there feet and light in the air. They are also used for dressage as well as jumping. Trakehners are also wonderful horses. They have a great deal of thoroughbred and arab blood making them a great jumper and endurance racer. Good Luck and have fun!!
Thoroughbreds, not arabian! Warmbloods jump high to but they arent very fast.
